Another background done.

Hello followers,
I know I promised you a second production video, I assure you it's in the making, I just have to edit it. This weekend I decided to work on the cafe scene background. I realized it's gotten a VERY positive response on vimeo (Which is very flattering) and I tried to stay as close as possible to the original art. I hope you like it.

First let me say THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing, tweeting, commenting on my first production video, it was amazing to read your awesome feed back and comments, please keep checking in as I will keep posting and updating. My next production video will be up soon and I'll address the story/story-boarding and animatic phase, till then here's a still from the last shot I've been working on.

Anyways, this is the opening shots' background, and good god is it taking me a long time to finish each one of these!

This is how I laid it out in the animatic:

And luckily I found a very close room to this layout at my friends' apartment, there it is:

And this is the result of many hours of fucking with it:

One of the lucky accidents here is that when I initially drew the apartment it looked way to spacious but this photo brought things together a lot more and made it more cluttery and claustrophobic.
I hope you like it ..I'm pretty happy with it regardless.

My "Miniature" shoot

Yo yo followers, all two of you, how's it going? so I've been busy, a lot, and here's a little photo of me working on some "miniature" shoot for the short as a proof that I've been keeping myself real busy.

Things are going great on Dirty Laundry Day. Just last week I recorded a news anchorman audio and it turned out GREAT, this week I'm going out with my brand new Zoom Digital audio recorder to record fley, ambient noise and whatnot. A couple of shots have been finished and still have many many more to do. Here's how many I have to finish.

Bad things happen.

I know it's too early for bad news, but things happen and many times you just can't change them. My partner and art director on this project Tyler Schatz can no longer work with me on this project due to his busy schedule, so we mutually decided to put a hold on his role until whenever he feels he can join again.

 This is Tyler's delicious direction. 

Mean while, and since I had no plans of stopping I decided to revert back to the old style I originally envisioned, live photo collage processed to match my original staging and flat layout on one hand, and a more painterly and stylized color key on the other. If you go back a couple of posts you will find the color keys I'm aiming to hit.    

NYC provides no shortage of crummy old and beautiful facades that beg to be photographed like the above building. It's odd how close it is to my drawing, I got real lucky on this one. 

I've goto give a shout out to my friend Nick Dubois who lent me his awesome Canon. 

And this is the outcome after cropping, collage, and paint over. I'm pretty sure I'll revisit it again when I get to the final composition. I hope you like it.
